Fleet Air Arm Museum

The Fleet Air Arm Museum in Yeovilton houses Europe's largest collection of naval aircraft, making it a fantastic attraction for all the family.

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of aviation in the Royal Navy, the Fleet Air Arm Museum has transformed one of their exhibition halls to house a major exhibition. The Fly Navy 100 exhibition dramatically presents the development of naval aviation from the first Royal Naval airship and early bi-planes, to today’s formidable air power from the sea.

The earliest complete aircraft on display at the Fleet Air Arm Museum is a replica of a 1912 Short S27, together with the un-restored remains of the first aircraft to have taken part in a naval battle in 1916, the Short 184.

Another exhibition hall houses the award-winning Aircraft Carrier Experience. It’s where Museum meets theatre. Here, you’ll ‘fly’ by helicopter to the replica flight deck of the aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal. You’ll also get to see ten complete aircraft and two enormous projection screens showing a Phantom strike fighter and a Buccaneer strike bomber. At Fleet Air Arm Museum you’ll be in the heart of the action, as powerful jet fighters take off and land around you.

You will even see a nuclear bomb, which makes this a truly unforgettable attraction. The Fleet Air Arm Museum has the largest collection of naval aircraft anywhere in Europe and the first British-built Concorde, which you can go on-board and visit the cockpit.

There is also a children’s playground, a licensed restaurant and a shop, as well as ample free parking and excellent disabled access.
